The first thing to consider before starting a marketing campaign of any type is “who am I looking for“ or to put it another way “who is my tribe?”
For example, many of the products I market are to do with anti ageing, so although I have products that would help a 21 year old woman build a business, she is unlikely to want to join me in marketing mine, as the products are less relevant to her demographic.
That is why I confine the vast majority of my marketing to Facebook and twitter which have an older average user than instagram.
But where my strategy falls down next to Instagram marketing is in that all important term “engagement”. Young people are far more engaged in social media, it is a much greater part of their comunication strategy, and they are far more likely to purchase from a social media platform.
Instagram has over 1 billion regular users, the majority of those users are female, and over 90% are under 35 years old.
Frankly if you have a message, product or opportunity that is aimed towards a younger demographic, it would be the height of negligence not to learn how to market on Instagram.
